Company History

Founded in 1967 in southern California, Astromec began designing and building electric motors and accessories for military and aerospace customers. In 1981 our headquarters moved to Carson City, Nevada, where in the mid-1980?s we began designing and manufacturing high reliability motors for orthopedic surgical instruments.

In 1990 a new 20,000 square foot facility was constructed and the business moved to its current location on Arrowhead Drive. Astromec continues to supply the major aircraft manufacturers with motors that control flight critical rudder and stabilizer trim actuators as well as actuators for valves. Astromec motors can be found in military tanks as well as the Space Shuttle.

On January 6, 2006, the company was acquired by Pro-Dex, Inc., a public company located in Santa Ana, CA.
